Help me get this lost property back to its owner!

Yesterday we found an item on a street in Kings Heath, South Birmingham, UK. It has a photo tag attached to it so should be identifiable. I have posted a picture of this photo on my blog here and have tweeted and facebooked the link - twitter peeps are helping me, facebook ones not so much. Have alerted local twitter feeds and asked them to retweet. Any other ideas (we will be taking it to the police station in a day or so but how will the owner know to go there to get it?)

I don't want to say what it is and I'll explain why once we don't have the thing, but bear in mind I don't want to say in public. It's not illegal in any way, or sketchy, just slightly sensitive. What more would you do?

Response by poster: Ah - apparently, according to 2 people so far, most people would go and ask at the police station if they lost this kind of thing, so I think I'll run it down there in the morning ...

Take it to the police station. The owner will know to go there to get it for the same reason you know to take it there: that's what you do with lost property.

I'm in England, and if I lost those, I'd go to a police station before I looked on twitter.

Response by poster: Thanks both - I wasn't expecting people to look for the thing on twitter, just hoping to find someone who recognised them as there are quite a few lost and found type things posted in my area/community here - but that's good to have confirmation anyway. Off to the police station when they open!
