Juvenile Science Fiction Title

I am looking for a juvenile science fiction series I read as a child in the 70s. The books were written in either the 1960s or 70s. I vaguely remember a book that may have been called "Rebel Planet" or "Rebel Prince" and it featured talking battle horses. I remember one passage where a horse turned back to its rider and asked "Kill?" when confronted with an unfriendly.

The French geologist and scifi author who wrote in the 1950s and 60s under the pen name Francis Carsac had one novel called Les Robinsons du Cosmos that featured belligerent talking centaurs, and another novel called Terre en fuite that did not feature any equine creatures, I don't think. A long shot, but perhaps?…

Sounds like Robert Adams's Coming of the Horseclans series.

Response by poster: Neither of those suggestions sounds right although the Robert Adams stuff sounds intriguing.

It's not The Horse and His Boy, part of the Chronicles of Narnia series, is it? Just about all the animals in the Narnia books can talk. I don't remember a "Kill?" part, but it has been 25-odd years since I've read the books. :(

Response by poster: Definitely not Narnia. These books were more straight forward science fiction. I am starting to think I dreamed them.
