AAAAACK! Could it be any worse?

LinkedInFilter: I just discovered that, instead of casually linking to a friend's counseling business, my LinkedIn Work Experience section lists my last four years as a therapy client...!

OK, I have some theories on how this FUBAR happened... but that's unimportant. As is HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE "JOB LISTING"! OK, I'll stop shouting now... sorry. (It might have been easier to delete if my blood pressure hadn't been 190zillion/80.)

I have just responded to a couple of rather interesting job queries, at least one of which was for a huge corporation (and thus, a likely source of many other openings as well... where my "4 years in therapy" resume may live on in a file indefinitely).

My question to the blue: Do I just cut my losses, or send out a simple, honest explanatory note to the recent recipients?

Calling attention to it will only call attention to it. Let it drop. They probably only glanced at it anyway, and easily could have gotten the impression you worked there.

Nobody is really paying that close attention. Really. If anybody asks, just say that it's your friend's business, and you were trying to put in a good word for your friend, but put it in the wrong section. Which is true, and not a problem. I just don't think anybody minds.

Let it go - nobody noticed.

FWIW a while ago Linked In was posting all sorts of crap on my profile. It made it appear that I worked for some places I was investigating pre-interview. ( Oh, and no one said anything.)

It is probably illegal for a therapist to reveal your status as a client. You could write a formal letter to LinkedIn, documenting the fact, citing state regulations, and request removal of the information.

Response by poster: theora55: I've already removed the note. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, but I really find it hard to believe no interviewer is paying attention to the position I held for the last four years (according to my resume).
