Soul chorus.

SongFilter. Super sweet soul tune: does it have a twin?

Listen to this song: De Vons (someone to treat me the way you used to). And dance a little, if you must.

I heard this song for the first time yesterday. At least I think it was the first time. The tune of the chorus sounds freakily similar to a song that I've heard before. Maybe. Not the words, but the tune of this line: "I"ll find someone to treat me the way that you used to."

Is there a song out there that was separated at birth from this sweet De Vons tune? Or did I hear this jam in a past life?

It reminds me of the "I've got something to tell you" line from Bill Ocean's "When the going gets tough".

The way the first three notes of "I'll find someone" go down reminds me of the "I'll find you" from Jay & The Technique's Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie. Faster tempo though.

Overall, it's Rundgren-esque.

There's a bit of Red Dwarf themetune in there, too.

But melody of the line in question reminds me very much of just one song: "It's been five long years and I love you just the same." Also known in Canada as, "It's been five short minutes since I last heard this song, and it still sucks just as bad."

I hate when this happens to me, but this one does sound familiar, especially the first few notes. Could it be a commercial jingle rather than an actual song? It sounds like any typical local furniture store ad.

Response by poster: Thanks y'all! Your guesses didn't ring a bell, but it turns out that I HAVE heard the song before, at a soul dance night. D'oh!

Thanks again for the sleuthing. :)
