Too much rice pudding?

Is there a reason why eating so much rice pudding is making me want to barf?

I recently was with some friends celebrating and I felt kinda nauseous after eating way too much rice pudding. I don't usually feel like this when I overeat, so here is my question: is there something in rice pudding that makes it more difficult on the stomach?

Also, can pizza and rice pudding combine like this and cause it, because that's what I did - lots of pizza slices and then rice pudding afterwards...

Rice pudding is very gentle on the stomach - it's something I'd prepare for someone if they were ill or having stomach issues. You probably just ate too much.

it's probably more a function of eating out than any specific food - food in restaurants is almost always richer than what you'd make at home. also, was this rice pudding with raisins? cuz, raisins can have a laxative effect - combine that with the greasy pizza and you'll feel better after you can go to the bathroom.

My guess: food that has a soft, creamy texture (rice pudding, mashed potatoes, polenta, etc) is easy to eat quickly, so you're more likely to eat far too much before you realize that you're full.

Rice pudding is high GI if made with white rice and sugar.

Insulin can cause nausea.

I suspect that what is happening is

High GI food -> high blood levels of insulin -> nausea.

Do you have any history of insulin resistance?

I definitely found that my stomach has become more sensitive as I've grown older. Perhaps something similar could be happening in your case?

Perhaps the rice was slightly undercooked and swelled inside.
You might also have hit some previously undetected "intolerance" button. (If I think of it, carb intolerance.)
Also: what BozoBurgerBonanza and sesquipedalian say.

tl;dr: yes.

The rice pudding was probably made with lots of real cream, and hence lots of fat. (Also the pizza, natch.)

Eating fatty foods can cause nausea if you have gallstones.

Eating that much dairy in one go would make me sick. I am not lactose intolerant.

Probably the dairy. I could imagine that eating too much rice pudding would make a lot of people feel sick. Imagine if you ate too much banana pudding or too much ice cream or too much tres leches cake. It's rich and milky and sugary and yuck in excessive quantities.

If your stomach was overfull, it might have caused the regurg, esp. if the pants were a bit snug. Also, food poisoning can cause prompt and complete puking.

Rice pudding often contains a little nutmeg? Might be a factor.

There are many videos online of guys trying to drink a gallon of milk in one sitting; they inevitably end up barfing about halfway through. Too Much Lactose.

[May we inquire how you're feeling today?]

Response by poster: I'm feeling great today... well could be better, as I'm feeling a bit tired after working past closing at work last night. Yea I'm thinking it could've been the dairy. I'm not typically intolerant of lactose products; it must've just been that I had too much. Oh yeah, and that party was really great! I really enjoyed it!
