Help me sort out why I'm getting mysterious text messages in the middle of the night.

Either Casper is working nights or I've got a T-Mobile issue.

I have a run of the mill T-Mobile phone - no data plan. Nothing fancy.

About a month after I purchased the phone I started receiving a blank text from the number '129' every morning at 3 a.m. According to T-Mobile, the '129' message is a "known issue" and occurs when a user receives a voicemail (in my case, I also receive the message when I check my voicemail; occasionally, I will also receive this blank text message when I receive a call).

Here's why this is odd. When I receive the message at 3 a.m., I have not made or received any calls. There have been two separate times where I have received the text at 3:02 a.m. I do not receive the text message every night -- generally I get it five out of seven days each week. The message is not connected to any alarm and happens on both week days and weekends.

I have spoken to other T-Mobile users, googled the question, checked the T-Mobile site for information, etc. No one seems to know what is going on.

Any ideas?

Are there any messages in your voicemail box (read or unread)? Perhaps the blank texts you are receiving are intended to be intercepted by the phone's operating system and are actually instructions to turn your "voicemail waiting" indicator on or off.

Also, what make and model of phone do you have?

Response by poster: I have a Nokia Nuron.

Nope, no unheard messages. Good thought though.

The 3 a.m. encore is really the odd part for me.
