I am looking for guided mindfulness meditation mp3s.

I'm trying to incorporate meditation into my routine but I find that I do much better with a little guidance. I like the "visualize yourself walking down some steps into a garden" variety of meditation, with nature sounds. It doesn't have to be exactly like that, but that's what I've liked in the past. I'm willing to pay if there's something in the iTunes store that you highly recommend.

I've seen this thread but it's from ages ago so I thought I'd get updated recommendations.

Best answer: My wife recommends http://www.audiodharma.org/ If nothing else, they have a wide variety of options.

The UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center has a free series of 12 mindful meditation audio tracks (if that link doesn't work, search for "mindful meditations" in the iTunes store, and it's the first result that comes up).

A podcast, but awesome: Moodstreams. You can buy them on the website, but they're free on iTunes.

Response by poster: Ohh, mnemonic, had to unmark your suggestion as best answer- in theory those would be useful but that woman has a horrible, horrible valley-girl accent. I can't relax when I hear up-talk like that. Thanks anyway.

Best answer: Jon Kabat-Zinn is the man. Guided Mindfulness Meditation Series I and Series II.
www.mindfulnesscds.com.

Or you can read one of his books. I like Full Catastrophe Living.

Something in how your phrased your question suggests to me that you might be interested in Guided Visualization. You can google Belleruth Naparstek. healthfuljourneys.com. Some of what she does is what you are describing.

Good Luck.

Best answer: Some of Jon Kabat-Zinn's guided meditations are available online at the UCSD Centre for Mindfulness.

A good parallel to Audio Dharma is ZenCast , which shares much of the same content.

Jon Kabat-Zinn's audio books and audio course content are available in many formats. His Mind Body Stress Reduction courses are taught all over, and are worth taking if possible.

Some other podcasts that might be worth trying include: Meditation Oasis, Meditation Station, and The Meditation Podcast.

They're not quite the "nature sounds/garden path" sort of guided meditation, but I recommend Russ Harris' The Happiness Trap mp3s for body awareness and dealing with painful emotions.

I'm a huge fan of Meditation Oasis. They have an iPhone app which is really convenient.

You might find something useful at Free Buddhist Audio. Full disclaimer: I know the director.

Not quite meditation, but the guided naptime tracks from Pzizz are nice.
