Travel Power Strip

Where can I find a compact power strip (that I can travel with) - kind of like the USB octupus but for electricity. I always run into trouble sharing power outlets at airports etc. I'm living in Europe.

You're looking for a powersquid.

Bah. Sorry. I missed the part about Europe on first read.

If you're in the British part of Europe, a cube tap may be a more compact/lightweight alternative to the octopus design. Slightly less safe though, due to mechanical stability concerns: if you hang a transformer "brick" directly from the cube-tap, it may tend to pull the plug out of the wall.

I always travel worldwide with the even more compact North American equivalent and it works great for me: with only one local plug adapter, I can power all of my devices simultaneously. But I also recognize that electrical plug designs in the 220V parts of the world are much more conservative that in the 110V areas, and for very good safety reasons: 110V plugs allow you to touch the uninsulated parts of energized prongs, while the better 220V plugs make it physically impossible.

Response by poster: I'm in Germany - I'm trying to finding a "cube tap" equivalent with a mainland-EU plug. But I haven't been successful yet. Thanks a lot for the powersquid link.

You may also want to have a look at the wall plugs with built in usb sockets to cut down on the need to carry chargers as well. Like this. Many different designs available.

Seconding Dimpy's suggestion. I use a cube like this when travelling to split my one US-European converter into three outlets. It's very space-efficient.
