Tips for a really good travel bag?

I am looking for a bag or travel case that is as much like a portable foot locker as possible. Requirements: less than $250, highly durable, wheels or easy movement, and space for two weeks' worth of clothes without laundry. I am in the USA.

I don't know what you mean by foot locker, or whether you want to be checking a bag or not, but I regularly travel for 2+ weeks with an Eagle Creek rollaboard (tarmac). It has a lifetime warranty.

Rule of thumb is to pack for about 6-7 days and launder in the middle (this way, I have travelled for up to two months with one case). There is no reason to take two weeks' worth of clothes anywhere. Some things can of course be worn twice.

I have a Samsonite similar to this one. It held more than 2 weeks of clothes, multiple pairs of shoes, and all the "stuff" you need when traveling. It's held up very well.

Seconding Eagle Creek. Their Ramble 22 is my bag of choice. 3539 cu in, safely within carry-on flight dimensions, a tad squishy on top so it fits into an overhead locker. Brilliant at keeping things organized, especially if you invest in a few of thei Eagle Creek Pack-it Cubes, to separate shirts from undies and to keep all the little bits and pieces together. I have never been so impressed on a trip as I have been since I got this case. It easily lasts me for 2 weeks - and I have never been a light traveler!

PS - If you Google this case, it also seems to be on close-out at several of the online baggage retailers, as Eagle Creek update their range of colors and finishes each year ... :-)
