Charlotte, NC filter: Boyfriend is visiting. What should we do?
The last time he was here we went to the Penguin. Where do we need to go this time? Food, events (he'll be here Sept 17-21), sights, generally awesome shit?
note: i've googled events, and have failed miserably. i want the low-down on cool stuff going on: wine tastings, art walks, punk shows, etc.

That seems to be kind of a dud weekend, sandwiched between Brews Blues & BBQ and Festival in the Park. I think it was supposed to be Charlotte Shout weekend, but that's on hold for the year.
Have you been to the Whitewater Center yet? They are doing their Thursday night concerts through October. Or maybe check out a show at the NC Music Factory (webpage under construction)? Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market on Yorkmont?

I heard that the "Under the Sea" IMAX film was really good, if you're interested in that kind of thing. It's at Discovery Place in Charlotte.
But, if the weather's nice I would look for something outside - like the Whitewater Center already mentioned or take a hike at the Carolina Raptor Center near Lake Norman.
