DoNotMockMeGMailViaMozillaViaOS9.2MacQuestion: It's started freezing up on me, Is there any hope, other than getting a G5 IMac?
According to the Apple Support forum, GMail doesn't play very well with Mozilla.
Netscape 7.02 for OS 9.x appears to fare better, however.

Response by poster: Yes, I am saving up for a new computer--and, perhaps a 0% interest credit card to hasten the process.
Mozilla works fine; it's something on the GMail site, that's the problem. Oh...whatever, off to the hotties!

Oh, and sometimes Apple does the No Payments No Interest for three months deal, so be on the lookout for that.

Paris, are you using an old build from the Moz site, or WaMCom?

Response by poster: britain, what is WaMCom? Ther version I have came from the Mozilla.org site; re-downloaded it, probably early this year.

I could never get GMail to cooperate with Mozilla on OS9 or OSX, but Firefox works a treat. Do you have FF? Is there FF for OS9? Hmm.

Response by poster: The WaMCom version, at least on the first try, exhibited the same problem: mac freezes when I try to reply to an e-mail...

must be an OS9 thing, 'cause gmail has worked fine for me on mozilla windows for as long as i've had an account. never tried pulling the gmail site up on OSX. unfortunately i doubt many moz developers are busy hunting down OS9 bugs.
i doubt that there is any firefox release for OS9, for the same reason - the number of OS9 users is too low right now for mozilla foundation to really work hard at making a version that works there.

gMail makes massive use of a javascript function called
xmlhttprequest.
The log-in function uses it (I believe) and so this is why you can't even log-in from some browsers. If you can log-in, I would GUESS you would have no problem with other features, as well.
Not all browsers can grok the xmlhttprequest javascript funtion, and probably NO OS9 browser can. (Can't say for sure).
Anybody care to confirm my hypothesis?
And yes... bite the bullet and get thyself to OS X. It rocks.

With anything involving a web browser, the first thing to try is clearing the browser's cache. This is mentioned multiple times in gMail's help documents, but don't know if it relates to your specific problem.
