A special verion of "You'll Never Walk Alone" for my father's funeral

My dad, a lifetime Liverpool FC-supporter, passed away a few days ago. Before his death he specifically requested a special version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to played at his funeral.

The problem is we can't find a recording of it.

The one he wanted was the acapella version of the song that was performed by a nine year old boy in Liverpool Cathedral as a part of the Heisel dissaster memorial service.
If you know the name of the boy or any other information about a recording of his performance please help us.

John Peel played a fantastically moving rendition of this on the day after Hillsborough which is acapella by Aretha Franklin. That may work as a second choice. If I can find it, I'll let you know. I was reminded by a piece by fellow DJ Nicky Campbell in the Guardian or the BBC after Peel's own passing recently. He said Peel just sat there in floods of tears while it played.

You might want to try contacting BBC/ITN archive sales. Or perhaps one of the various other companies that sell archive material.. They might have a recording of the service.

Or perhaps Liverpool FC themselves?

Try asking at the Liverpool FC pages on the BBC. The club site has message boards also, though you need to register.

There are copies of the song available for download on Limewire, with the artist listed as "Liverpool FC"... I haven't been able to download any of them so far, but you might want to give it a try.

(And then maybe make a charitable donation of some sort if you feel guilty about downloading it.)

I dropped an email to the librarian at the Cathedral to see if she/he could help us along identifying the singer. I'll let you know if he/she knows anything helpful. My condolences to you.
