Looking for a car company in Providence, RI that will rent out cars/vans to under-26-year-olds for four days for $150.

Does such a company exist?

If it does, it would be a local company. With the national chains, I think the surcharge for an under-26 driver would come close to $150 for four days all by itself.

Well, I'm not sure if this is cheap enough, but you might try here. If you're a student or employee of Brown University (or if you know someone that is that you can rope into your plan), you're eligible to rent a car with the under-26 insurance fees waived.

If you're a student or employee of another school, you might check their webpage to see if similar offers exist.

It might be worth it to give Hotwire a shot. I don't know about the under-26 angle, but I was able to get a better price with unlimited miles on my last rental. Unlimited miles was just not available directly from any of the companies.

The only caveat is that you can't pick the specific agency, or the specific car, but the agency will be in your local area, and you can specify the type of car. But it doesn't cost anything to try.

Priceline is your solution!

An interesting bit about Priceline is that under-25 fees are included in your bid. So, bid $120 (don't forget about taxes!) for four days and see if you win. I've done this a few times. Once, the agency insisted that under-25 fees weren't included. I just paid for the fees, called Priceline, and had them refund the fee less than fifteen minutes after I rented the car.

I've rented from National several times and never been hit with the under-25 surcharge. Humans at the rental counter have never mentioned it, and their self-check-in kiosk told me I "may" be charged the extra fee, but never have. You may give them a shot.

When I was under 25, Enterprise was about the cheapest place to go.

seconding Enterprise. It's been a few years, but I know I rented from them when I was under 25.
$150 is pretty cheap, though... even if you were of age it might be tricky to find something in that range.

danger, I tell ya!

enterprise is king of the 'we will screw you over' operations. I would be very careful about inspecting a vehicle prior to taking it. they have previously tried to put miniscule damages to paint, etc. that were present before I took the vehicle onto my bill. also: reserving a vehicle with enterprise does not mean you will actually get a vehicle in the class you reserved. they just put some vehicle on the lot. you may reserve a van and end up with a subcompact. they will suggest "we could drive you to our other location and see what's there" but be very reluctant to actually do so.

save yourself the hassle and go someplace else, especially when you're under 25.

You could try Rent A Wreck. They have a Providence location and are usually cheap. Not sure on the age part though.
