Family Hairapy just won't cut it.

Name my friend's mobile hair service company.

A close friend has had a mobile hair cutting business for a few years, and the current name isn't such a peach (Cut & Run). She needs something better. She hopes to do office calls, house calls for families, and brides at their weddings. We spent a good portion of the day getting nowhere fast. Help me, mefites.

call to cut

or

clip'd conversation

or

clipped calls

or

Have scissors will travel (and you need business cards in black that echo the show's iconic design)

or

shear adventure

or

curlers by car

or

Perms on the run

or

hairspray airways (I sense a great logo opportunity here, maybe one of those Memphis Belle type pin ups decaled on the side of the truck)

or

by hair or hot water

or

Perms with Privacy (your marketing can be about how it's more convenient on important days for the hairdresser to come to you to do the job rather than deal with the stress of travel)

or

House calls for haircuts (you would have to start carrying your tools in an old doctor's bag)

or

Suburban Selectives (or Suburban Salon, though I think people will get it.) (only useful if you happen to drive a Suburban)

or

Salon Squad (orange and black cars, relaxed cursive lettering in white, snappy uniform with tie)

or, lastly,

Highway Hairdressing

By the way, if one of these are chosen and I happen to be in your area, although I don't know where that is, I hope to at least get a nice haircut out of it.

I think Cut & Run is great. But here are some others.

Hair Emergency
Mobile Hair Rescue Squad
Hair Recon Unit
Hairatroopers
Instant Salon
HairCalls
Haircuts Delivered
Haircut Delivery Service
Styles On Wheels
Scissor Squad
The Floating Salon
The Flying Scissors
The Flying Stylist
Motostylist
Autostylist
Hair 2 U
Cuts 2 U
Haircuts On Demand
Darth Vader's Rolling Regeneration Chamber (n' Cuts)

From the other people's suggestions, I really like Hair Anywhere and Cuts On Call. Those sound very crisp in terms of sticking in people's heads as business names that clearly evoke the nature of the business and have the advantage of being rhymey/alliterative

Hair, There! (Versus hair here, at your shop.) Though it might be awkward to say? It does kind of rhyme with "Care Bear," though I'm not sure whether that's a plus or minus.

I have to say, I, too, like Cut n' Run / Cut & Run, though I guess it doesn't convey the mobile nature.

I like Askr's 'mobile emergency vehicle' theme, and would add "Bad Hair Day Rescue {Unit, Squad}" to the list.

Harrier, invoking the aircraft carrier imagery? (Not the dog.)

Response by poster: You guys are hitting on a lot of the stuff we had come up with, but I'll have her look at these and see if anything sticks.

I think maybe the best thing to do is to come up with a name that has absolutely nothing to do with hair or is not a play on words, although I do like Hair@Home.

Right. Any of these names might still leave the fact that it's a mobile hair cutting/styling operation ambiguous if there isn't some kind of subtitle, e.g. "Haircuts and styling at your home, office, or event." (Maybe something shorter for a phonebook entry.) So if you go with a subtitle, you may as well use any name that sounds good....
