how to camwhore, and for how much

How does an attractive female become a webcam girl, and how much money does she really make?

Has anyone here tried this? I've heard you can make pretty decent money. How much? How long does it take to roll in, given you follow certain methods of attracting clientele? Which sites are reputable, and which are not? Are there any online resources or message board communities for cam girls?

I'm looking for something I can do at home in between reading and studying. I'm comfortable being naked in front of strangers and can tolerate a lot of abuse. I'm a recent college graduate, but don't want a "real job." I'd prefer a way to work from home doing something interesting while I go through the graduate school admissions process.

I set up an anonymous e-mail address if you'd prefer to message me personally about your experiences doing this: howtowebcam@gmail.com

Please do not contact me about a position available as your personal cam girl.

Thank you!

Candy from Strangers. Dates back to the old era of Chelle and Nay, but still applicable in these Stickam-rising days.

Funny. Make sure you maintain the high level of anonymity, and don't get lazy about details like what's in the background of your camera, never e-mailing anyone ever, etc. Stalkers are NOT good.

I know someone who did this for a couple years while in college until someone found her by IP address somehow. Then she retired quickly. I'll ask your questions.

I have a gorgeous friend in Canada who does this when she's desperate for money (as in, she gets a stipend of some sort to pay for school from her mother, but often needs money for travel/emergencies/stupid girl crap, what have you) and she earns three dollars a minute. The bad part of her doing it is one guy saved a file of her stripping for him and put it up on limewire or some other P2P crap and now if you Google her webcam name, you can find a zipped video file of her online. For free. That anyone can download at any time, in perpetuity, until long after she's dead.

Remember that anyone can record you doing it and post it online somewhere.

If I recall correctly, she has a Paypal account that she uses to get the money from the service provider, and then transfers the balance to one of those prepaid credit cards you can recharge again and again.

So, with my limited *but still legitimate and second-person* knowledge of this, I'd say:

Use a pseudonym.

Wear a wig if you can; or glasses. Anything that makes it difficult for someone to recognize you from real life.

Focus on your body, not your face, when you're doing the webcam stuff. Obviously.

It's probably better if you don't have identifiable tattoos that people might recognize later.

I am going to email you with some other stuff I'd rather not post here... good luck!

As a porn collector I know anyone can be spotted and outted eventually.

You will be eventually recognized, named, outted, shared, distributed, and posted.

The more accepting of this fact the more likely it will be a good experience rather then a bad one.

If you are expecting to remain a dog, don't do it.

To the previous posters, many people in the sex industry don't care if they're recognized, yo.

Anonymous, I recommend you watch the show Webdreams, particularly season 1. (If you're outside Canada and/or can't watch the stream, you may be able to find a torrent.) Really fascinating show overall, but also, starting from the first segment of the first episode there's a storyline about a girl who goes into webcam work (with Livecamnetwork.com, which appears completely reputable) because she needs money. You might find some insight there.

You'll most likey find some helpful stuff here (it's in amongst with some other things but you'll figure it all out).
...and I think you'll need to register to read through it all?
