Where to go to dinner near the Pantages Theater?

Recommendations for dinner near-ish the Pantages Theater in LA?

Someplace where I'd conceivably be able to get a reservation for today (Wednesday, by the time you read this probably), and not spend more than ~$60 for two people. We have a car so it doesn't have to be walking distance of the theater but in the same general area would be great. I'm open as to what kind of cuisine.

There's a great Brazilian restaurant called Bossa Nova in LA with several locations throughout. I happen to like the West Hollywood location the best. It's reasonably priced, and really, really delicious. You can check out their menu to get a feel for the cuisine and prices here (my favorite is the salmon with a side of yucca and plantains). It's about 4 1/2 miles from the Pantages Theater, so not too far. It shouldn't be too busy on a Wednesday night, but I would suggest you call in the morning to make the reservation.

Enjoy your evening!

Magnolia on Sunset just east of Vine is nice, and typical of restaurants in the area, menu-wise. Off Vine is right near there as well, it's in a large old house, and I had a good lunch there once. The Hungry Cat is just a little spendy and the waiters like to upsell but they have tasty seafood. For reviews of these places and more, yelp.com is your friend.

Numinous: I love Bossa Nova, but it doesn't take reservations and parking is sub-optimal. Be prepared to wait outside - though on a weds you might be OK.

Fabiolus Cafe down on Sunset (just east of Vine) is tasty Italian food. You could probably do $60 for dinner for two if you stick with pasta/risotto/etc.

Best answer: Oh, and seconding Magnolia's good, too. Nice place.

Seconding Off Vine and Fabiolus, both are really good. El Floridita on Fountain and Vine has excellent Cuban. Katsuya is a snazzy, trendy sushi place that just opened up on the corner of Hollywood & Vine, not sure if you'd be able escape for ~$60 if you're a big sushi eater.

Another vote for Off Vine, an easy 2 1/2 block walk down the yellow brick sidewalk to the Pantages, and they are very theater-aware, ensuring that you get out in time for the curtain.

And you'll love the show, too!
