Name These Tunes!

Can you name these tunes?
1. This one sounds like movie music, but I haven't been able to track it down.

2. I think this is the bonus track on Spell's "Mississippi" album. Can anyone verify?

3. This was recorded off a college radio station in Lowell MA in the early 90s. It's a mix of a song, and a woman speaking about pleasuring herself (the "I am satisfied" parts..... Can anyone find the source of either?
4. And another one from the same mix tape...

4. Sounds like an instumental or remix of some kind of "Wild and Crazy" by Dr. Octagon.

#3 seems to be "Phantasia Forever" by Praga Khan.
There's a clip on Amazon

1. Definitely NOT Moby. I have everything he's done ( I think) and I don't recognize it.
2. Couldn't get it to play
3. Thats one of the worst techno songs I've ever heard
4. No idea.

How did you get a tape to a digital media?

1. sounds like apollo 440. ugh. compare and contrast their lost in space theme tune.
4. contains the same samples as stuff off the orb's adventures beyond the ultraworld. i'm guessing something off the aubrey mixes album?

I can't identify any of them, but as long as we're playing name-that-tune, how about this one? Recorded off Wesleyan college radio in the .. early to mid 90's i'd guess.

Response by poster: Thanks a lot for your help.

#1 is definately not moby - I was thinking maybe Secret Chiefs three, or one of the associated side groups... Doesnt sound electronic to me.

"3. Thats one of the worst techno songs I've ever heard"

True, it hasn't aged well. But It has been haunting me for 10 years or so, not knowing who did it.

I have a tape deck with RCA out into my sound card, audio captured with Cooledit. Really quite easy.

If you're keen, tell me what you think this might be.

If the filename is right, #1 would be Masha i Medvedi, which Google pegs as a Russian band. Unfortunately their mp3 links are broken.

Freezboy is right about #3

Response by poster: Aaaahh.. ok, track #1 is called "Fantomasik" by Masha I Medvedi...

(I was actually spelling it wrong in google....)

The "I'm satisfied" samples aren't originally in the Praga Khan track

And that track was almost cutting edge when it came out. Take away the over-dramatic voice over and you've practically got early Irresistable Force/Mixmaster Morris.

I'm actually listening to the thing all the way through, as it's bringing up a ton of memories. It was on the very first "techno" compilation (non mix-tape type tape) I ever bought. (This was 91? 92? Earlier? I don't remember. Please, no old crusty raver jokes. I am the crusty old raver joke.)
