Too many fonts breaking Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop 7.0 problem: I just installed around 3000 fonts on my Windows XP system, and now photoshop won't start. It starts loading the reading font part of setup and then craps out saying: "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable." What can I do besides deleting all the fonts I installed?
Response by poster: hmm. i just found out about font managers so i have no clue which one to get. can anyone recommend one?

The Font Thing is quite good, though only handles TrueType fonts, which isn't such a big deal for most windows users.

OT1 is also very good, and handles all kinds of fonts, but is not free, alas. (The Font Thing is free, I forgot to mention)

Get the lite version of Adobe Type manager. Organize those suckers. Then limit yourself to a handful of default fonts. Install others on the fly as needed.

Ditto. But really, 3000? They're either stolen, in which case no comment because have you seen the price of Griffith Gothic these days or they're free in which case there's a good chance they'll be shit.
Far, far, better to source a select few high quality fonts and use them well. There are only so many crappy "handwriting" and "typewriter" fonts a system can take.

Try reinstalling Photoshop now you've installed the fonts. Stupid, pointless, Windows-user solution. But it'll probably be stupid enough to work.

THREE THOUSAND FONTS?
You're bogging your computer down far too much. I'll bet your boot time is crazy-slow, too. Cut them down to, say, 100 of the best, most versatile fonts, then install the one-off's you need when you need them, and quickly uninstall them when you're done.

I'd have to say uninstall them, then maybe reinstall them as and when you need them. Get hold of a decent font manager and it should be painless enough adding and removing them when you need them.
