Abandoned ferry visible from the NJ Turnpike?

Is that an old, abandoned ferry in the Arthur Kill?
Driving up the NJ Turnpike this weekend, I saw what appeared to be a huge, quite old, and decaying ferry beached along what I think is the Arthur Kill. This was just a few miles before Exit 10. Does anyone have any information about it?
It's really impressive, and I'd be interested to know the story of how it got there, and to find pictures of it taken from somewhere closer than 95.

Best answer: If you actually decide to visit the SI site blaneyphoto linked to I would suggest entering at low tide through the graveyard, and dropping planks across the mud rather than climbing the fence from the road.

Yes, do NOT get in the mud. You will smell for days.

Not to mention the Arthur Kill is pretty polluted - use a pair of cheap waders and throw them away when you're done (of course bag it out - don't toss them in the mud or the water).

Kayak is another approach option, if that's something you're skilled at. And I agree - be prepared to dispose of your footwear or anything else you get wet/muddy while there.

I was interested before - now I'm seriously intrigued.

Bring a friend or two. It's not particularly hazardous if you're careful, but it doesn't hurt to have a pal along. Post pics if you go.
