Gmail format problem

Recent Gmail trouble: no text box showing when "rich formatting" selected, using Firefox and XP. Works fine in IE.

So, in the last few days, I am unable to add links, boldface, etc to outgoing gmails. The "view" option selected at the bottom is standard with chat. Anybody have any ideas? 'druther not switch to IE.

Have you tried Firefox in safe mode (no add-ons)?
