Where to find the right tongs

Help my brother find a store that sells these tongs.

My brother had several pairs of these grilling tongs and liked them a lot. Until, that is, they were severely charred in a fire. The photo he sent me has no scalebar, but I remember them being a little over a foot long.

My questions: what is the name for this tong shape? Where can my brother buy them online? Where might he buy them in the midwest?

I think the phrase you're looking for is "scissor tongs".

The tongs are 15" long, and the gripping portion at the end is a 3.5" x 2" rectangle. I've found other scissor tongs, but none in this style.

Unless he really has his heart set on those, you should convince him to upgrade to "scallop" tongs. Any decent kitchen (or even department) store should have them. Even better, go to a restaurant supply store and get them for next to nothing.

re: scallops -- Yeah, restaurant supply wil probably have them. You don't actually want the scallops, though, as those are for salad. You can get some that look exactly like them but with teeth designed for better meat grippage at a restaurant supply store. And, you can probably find something similar to your brother's original tongs there as well but... they look kind of odd to me.

Like something for dipping lab bottles in hot water? Or something? They don't really seem like grilling tongs.

I picked up a few sets of these and kept one, gave the others as gifts. They're truly the best of both worlds. And cheap!
