Excel 2007 issue.

What's wrong with my copy of Excel 2007?

I installed Office 2007 Ultimate about a week and a half or so ago. It's all run beautifully so far, with one exception: Excel. Sometimes when I open it, I'll be greeted with a screen that looks like this. Other times, I'll open it and it will look perfectly fine. Generally, if I quit the program when I get the messed up-looking window and then re-open it, it will look fine. However, I'd really love it if it would look right all the time. Anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Response by poster: Oh, yes. I forgot to include in the question, but I'm running Vista Ultimate.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office? That does the trick sometimes with wacky program behavior.

Response by poster: I had thought of that; I was hoping there was something I could try short of that, though.

This guy seems to have found a workaround, at least.

That bar at the top looks like it belongs at the bottom, and it has what looks like a resize handle at the right hand side. Have you tried dragging that downward?

So there is talk about your issue in the MS Newsgroups, but no KB article or fix as of yet.

Quoted from above link:
Work around: Close any Windows Explorer windows before launching Excel.

Further research yielded the following information from "Perry" which I
confirmed works.

Problem can be re-produced as follows:
- Close all other programs
- Open Windows Explorer
- Startup Excel 2007 either from Programs under start, or fire "Excel.exe"
from the Start | Searchbox

The problem (possible bug) appears to be limited to Windows Explorer being
opened when starting up Excel.
If Windows Explorer isn't open, I can't reproduce this phenomenon.

Response by poster: Well, as long as I know this isn't something unique to me, I can live with it until a fix is issued.

@flabdablet: Yeah, I tried dragging it downwards and it resizes the window. Very strange.
