Where did my thunderbird email go?

I lost all of my thunderbird email while transferring my local hardrive to my company server - where could it be?

We recently moved into a new office space for work. Prior to that, we did not have a corporate server and all of my email and files were on my local hard drive. The IT company we hired decided to move all of our hard drives onto the server. I was the only one running thunderbird as my email program.

Well, sometime during when the transfer was happening from my local hard drive to the server, all my email was somehow lost. It does not make any sense. I am not a technical person, but the IT team spent hours trying to recover it and we even sent the drive to a data recovery company.

Does anyone have any idea as to where it could have gone? I am at a loss because this is important work email spanning years back.

Before getting into the details of the hard drive, did you pull down your mail via POP or IMAP?

Sounds like a profile problem.

Response by poster: I used to pull down the my thunderbird email via POP. We are now required to use Microsoft Outlook for our company email and that is what IT was doing

Did your user name (in Windows) change?

Dig around in C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles and look for a folder called Mail or ImapMail...
