bumperstickerfilter: what does "m'alp you!" mean?
I saw this the other day on a Subaru. It's probably quite obvious, but I'm clueless.

wfc123, that's a catchphrase by stand-up comedian who goes by Larry the Cable Guy.

As a child, I often went to Furr's cafeteria with my mother and grandmother.
The ancient lady who stood behind the salad section, and seemed to be a permanent fixture there for decades, would intone "m'alp you?" as you passed her section. It was her catch phrase.
My guess is, this woman's genuine (if hidden) charms affected many more than I realized, and her popularity lives on today.
Although that doesn't necessarily explain the presence of the bumper sticker on a Subaru, which as we all know is driven only by liberals and Dave Matthews.

Response by poster: Thirteenkiller - I considered that, but why, then, would there be an exclamation point, rather than a question mark? And why would someone have a bumper sticker that said may I help you?

A quick google sees plenty of people using it in thirteenkiller's context (particularly on Myspace). My guess is that the exclamation mark was used as emphasis was desired over grammar.

Maybe the exclamation point is to imply sarcasm or offense. It could be similar to the "Can I help you?" in a scathing tone when someone bumps into you. Was the sticker in a small font? It may be directed at tailgaters. Seems kind of obscure to me, though.
