Advice for a modern international traveller?

EuroFilter: My mom is going to Munich the first week of November. She needs some help...see

She hasnt traveled international since the mid-70's when her and my dad were stationed in Germany. What advice can the hive-mind give her about modern travel, bonus points for cool "off the beaten trail" places in Munich.

Can you maybe be a bit more specific about the kinds of things she's worried about? "Describe how European travel has changed for Americans since 1975" is a bit broad.

If you want some "off the beaten trail" information about
Munich, I suggest you go to toytownmunich.com. Posters
there are mostly US and British expats who should be able to give you the information that you require.
