Are there recreational places with giant indoor fans that blow you up into the air and give you a simulated indoor experience of flying -- or did I just dream this idea? I can't remember... posted by shivohum to sports, hobbies, & recreation (12 comments total)

Yes, they have these at some skydiving places. I remember there being one near L.A. when I was there. Best bet: get in contact with someone who is on the "in" with the whole skydiving culture (yeah, it's a culture). posted by zhivota at 12:02 PM on July 27, 2006
Here is a recommendation from Cool Tools. posted by attercoppe at 12:16 PM on July 27, 2006
According to Cool Tools, Skyventure is the better of the two. The video on their site looks like it would be a huge amount of fun. posted by cameldrv at 12:39 PM on July 27, 2006
Did this in Orlando. It was fun. I've been skydiving, but not much in the way of freefalling, so I can't compare the two, but it was a good time. Went with a few others so it was fun to be able to laugh at the funny uncoordinated and newbie moves that are bound to happen. posted by striker at 1:15 PM on July 27, 2006
I think there's still one in Las Vegas near the Las Vegas Hilton, check'em out. posted by mk1gti at 1:58 PM on July 27, 2006
Indoor Skydiving sites in the UK and Europe and I know that Xscape have one in Milton Keynes and one in Braehead. posted by Nugget at 2:52 PM on July 27, 2006
