Faking a Blogger comment

On Blogger, is it possible to post a comment that appears to have been made by another (registered) user? This is without the post having been made using a stolen or guessed password.

Why do you want to do this? I'm sure your IP can probably be traced.

Yup. You just click "Other" and then type in the user name and the URL. It's superficial, of course. There are ways to discover that it is a fraud.

I'm not interested in doing this myself. It happened to someone I know and I wanted to help him to find out how.

Thanks, GIRLesq, that must be it. It's funny how simple it is to do. How can you distinguish a fake one from a real one?

I don't think this works for all blogs - If they select the option: "Who can comment? Only registered users", then commenters have to sign in before they can comment, yes?

Yep, just tested it - GIRLesq's technique only works if the blog allows anonymous comments.

Other things to note: if the blog allows user pics next to comments, I can't see a way to fake the user pic.
