Where do the affluent shop/hang-out online? I'm looking for examples of websites that target the wealthy. Bonus points if they are real-estate related.

I've got the mainstream sites (Tiffany & co, Neiman Marcus, Jaguar, Cartier, Saks) but I'm looking for boutiques or communities/publications.

Best answer: Luxist is about the super-rich. Not sure if it's for them too.

The Internet is mostly geared to the middle class. Speaking in stereotypes, the uber-wealthy don't shop online.

You can join Charlie Sheen on millionairematch.com

Yeah, a small world would be a good place, but you can't get in unless you know someone who's already there, it's like an orkut for the rich and famous and english speaking (or is orkut open to anyone now? Can't remember).

millionairematch.com is a joke.

Yeah, it sounds like you're looking for aSmallWorld. There was an article in wired last year about it. As people note above, it's exclusive and invite-only. I'm also not sure how much it really lives up to it's rep though.

Seconded. And in regards to real-estate, doubly so.

This week Bob and Harvey Weinstein made an investment in aSmallWorld -- 'Investors Validate 'Snobster' concept.'

Where do the affluent shop/hang-out online?

As mentioned above, a) the really affluent don't shop online, b) the uber-wealthy have assistants that shop for them and design experiences for them (e.g. Bill Gates probably doesn't look at fabric swatches) and c) the uber-wealthy are themselves high-profile targets for people marketing directly to them. They don't have to shop because people are throwing themselves at them.

The website for Olivia Hsu Decker certainly should qualify. She specializes in homes from 2 million+ and is fabulously wealthy herself.

Well, Mike Arrington recently wrote about Millionaires24.com - the "World's Upper Class eMail Account" - which at $399 a month certainly seems to be aimed at the Paris Hilton demographic. Of course, someone then set up Billionaires25.com ("Snotty Upper Crust eMail Accounts"). The Internet combined with piss-poor public education: thinking up new ways of redistributing wealth voluntarily.

Then of course, if you cross over to our side of the Atlantic, you can read Tatler.

aSmallWorld is 404ing for me.
