"Venus in Furs"... the most beautiful song about S&M. Originally by The Velvet Underground. Also check out the fantastic cover version by the black metal band, Krieg. posted by hellhammer at 1:11 PM on May 23, 2006 [1 favorite]
Closer - Nine Inch Nails
Angel - Massive Attack (not explicitly, but it gives me that impression)
Less serious:
almost anything by Peaches or Dj Assault posted by utsutsu at 1:14 PM on May 23, 2006

I did a whole radio show on this once! My theme was more "stalker" than "obsession" but there is a lot of overlap. Some of them are highly creepy and some of them are better than others:
Blondie - One Way Or Another
Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me
Fleetwood Mac - I Got It In For You
Animotion - Obsession
Cinerama - Dance, Girl, Dance
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Hall and Oates - Private Eyes
The Handsome Family - Arlene
Herman's Hermits - Silhouettes
Tony Orlando and Dawn - Knock Three Times (Now and Then)
Little Peggy March - I Will Follow Him
Randy Newman - Suzanne
Steve Earle - More Than I Can Do
The Beatles - Run For Your Life
Diana Ross & The Supremes - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me
You might be interested in the 2002 film, Cherish, which is based on the creepiness of pop music. The film's soundtrack will surely have some answers. posted by JMOZ at 1:18 PM on May 23, 2006
"Prince Charming" by Brother Ali is a beautifully sly look at at obsession/possession. Subtly blatant is how I would describe it. posted by n-clue at 1:18 PM on May 23, 2006

I did a mix CD with a very, very creepy obession theme going; I culled out ones that were situation specific and threw in two more from a breakup CD. Some of these may not fit your theme exactly - obsession can be very personal. For example, I think that 'So Alive' (Love and Rockets) is about obsession, but I don't think that many people would agree.
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Straight to You
The Sisters Of Mercy - First and Last and Always (mostly the chorus.)
Marilyn Manson - I Put a Spell on You (there are other versions, but I think this one has the best 'crazy obsessed' tone)
VAST - Temptation AND Pretty When You Cry
Shakespear's Sister - Stay
k.d. lang - Constant Craving
Melissa Etheridge - I Wanna Come Over posted by cobaltnine at 1:53 PM on May 23, 2006
Garbage - There's a jazz/acoustic version of "You Look So Fine" floating around. posted by SpecialK at 1:54 PM on May 23, 2006
On the "over-jealous boyfriend" side of things, you could use "No One Else" by Weezer or "Run & Hide" by the Watchmen. posted by Johnny Assay at 1:55 PM on May 23, 2006

"Losing My Religon" by REM, which actually has nothing to do with religon.
"I Can See For Miles" by The Who is in the same vein as "Run for Your Life"
"Hot Summer Nights" by The Aquabats is absolutely hilarious.
"Dear Yoko" by John Lennon has always struck me as slightly creepy and obsessive, but that's probably just me. posted by martinX's bellbottoms at 2:32 PM on May 23, 2006

Can it be that no one has mentioned Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" yet? You can run, you can hide, but you can't escape his love... Bonus points if you consistently mishear "hide" as "die." posted by posadnitsa at 4:11 PM on May 23, 2006

Corey Hart - "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night"
Tom Waits - "Alice" and "Watch Her Disappear"
Nina Simone - "Lilac Wine"
The Dismemberment Plan did a cover of "Crush" by Jennifer Paige, originally a pop song, that in their hands became super creepy.
There are several versions of "Not In Love" that also fit the bill in a sort of "I doth protest too much" kind of way: 10cc, Tori Amos, Enrique Iglesias, possibly more
