Just got a Motorola SLVR, show me around!

So I got a new Motorola SLVR L7, what are some cool things I can do with it? Bonus points for OSX-Friendly apps/solutions.

I'm talking apps, hacks, games, secret stuff here, you name it. My main machine is an Apple laptop, but I have access to an XP box during the day.

From what I understand, this phone works like the RAZR. My provider is Cingular, if that matters.

Increase 100 song limit to 1000 (requires Windows).

See whether the MidpSSH Mobile SSH Client works on it, and if so, update this wiki page.

I use Audacity to trim down MP3 files from my iTunes library into small ringtones, and then upload them to my RAZR from my iBook's Bluetooth menu.

I use mine as a bluetooth modem with my 12" Powerbook for internet anywhere you can get a cell signal...

But, my provider is TMobile, and it's an extra $30 a month - so YMMV.

Totally worth it, though, for a geek like me.

Oh, and second the Audacity free ringtone thing - I do that with my PEBL.

HowardForums is a good place to start. At the moment, the L7 seems all the rage on the motorola forum at HF. Also, the above-linked motomodders.net will give you some great ideas.

Basically, you should be able to work out how to use the USB cable to do things like:
- upgrade the firmware (for new features)
- load ringtones (ie. cut up mp3's, my wife does this all the time)
- load wallpapers/screensavers and videos
- load games (this is good)

If you go to the above sites, you will find heaps of links to all of these things. I'd encourage you to try out some of the cool java games first. There are heaps out there! Currently, I am playing Midnight Pool and also Mission Impossible III. Some of the Prince of Persia games are also really good.

Good luck with your new Moto. I think you'll find you've just purchased one of the most moddable phone brands you can get!

Oh, you can also change the skin on your phone's interface. Something more interesting than the standard Moto skins.

Hey, how do I make my own ringtones for this thing? I've never gotten that to work right.

xueexueg , How can ssh run on a mobile without wifi?
