Truly Kafkaesque

I just finished Joy Williams' new novel Harrow. In the last section of the book, Kafka's story "The Hunter Gracchus" play a big part. I've read the story, but I'd love to read more about the writing of it. Can anyone point me to some online resources? I want to explore how Kafka's life fits into that story, if the story is inspired by an earlier myth, and the fragmented nature of the story.

Not an online resource, but Kafka kept diaries during the time that The Hunter Gracchus was written, and they are available in translation, perhaps even from a library.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, but you saw this by googling, right: lithub article about the Kafka story that I got by googling “Kafka’s story “The Hunter Gracchus”.” I didn’t read it yet but, just from skimming, it looks it discusses the fragments in his diary that tRD mentions.
I can’t wait to read the Williams book. I have it on order at the library.
