Help me find an essay I read recently

In the last few months, I read a Modern-Love-style essay (nonfiction, autobiographical) about a woman who wasn't sure whether she wanted to commit to the man she was seeing. He asked her to essentially make the choice to keep seeing him on a date-by-date basis rather making a choice to commit to be with him: if she was excited to see him the next time, then she should see him the next time. I'd like to reread it, but now I can't find the essay. Help?

I've googled extensively and looked through at least the recent Modern Love essays. But I'm not sure if it was a newly-published essay or an old one that I came across. Does anyone know what this essay was?

What publications do you usually read? That might help narrow down where it might be.
