Good Cat Vet in Broomfield/Lafayette/Louisville, CO?

Bit of a long shot here, but we are in Broomfield and need a cat vet. We have two 17-year-old females. One is asthmatic, one is terrified of ever leaving the house, and both have kidney issues. We are looking for a gentle doctor with a non-chaotic office.

We would like an office within a fairly short driving distance (our last vet was 20 minutes away, so anything closer than that will feel like an upgrade) and we would prefer an independent operation rather than a chain like VCA or Banfield. (We’ve seen first-hand what happened when two different offices were taken over by a big chain and we did not like it.) It does NOT have to be cat only. (We also have a bearded dragon and a box turtle, but I assume we will find a specialist for them.) Any recommendations from local (or ex-local) cat owners?

I don't have a local recommendation, but just in case you're not aware, I wanted to mention that most areas do have mobile vets. That might be a good solution for your cat who is afraid of leaving the house. We've been using a mobile vet for many years, and it's been great for our cat. We find it much less scary for them to be taken care of in their own home (though we do have to preemptively lock them in a room without any beds to go under or anything).

My independent cat-only vet is super proud to be a designated "Cat Friendly Practice", which outlines a bunch of cat-specific requirements vet offices need to adhere to get the designation. You can search for vets thats have this designation here: https://catfriendly.com/find-a-veterinarian/ - I did see one in Louisville, but it was VCA, so thats not what you're looking for. I'll leave the link here anyway though, as I'm not familiar with CO so I don't know how far the others listed are.

My sister lives in Lafayette, and takes her kitty to Lafayette Companion Animal Hospital.

if you're willing to drive a little bit (30min?) we LOVED the all cat clinic in englewood when we lived there.

We live in Broomfield and take our senior dog to Aspen Arbor Vet Clinic (near Wadsworth and 36). It was a nice calm place when they were allowing folks inside. Now you hand off the pet outside. Our dog has been well taken care of.

Response by poster: Thanks, all, for the recommendations. We have an appointment at Lafayette Companion Animal Hospital for our asthmatic kitty and I guess we will see how it goes! The "Cat Friendly Practice" certification seems like it could be a good resource if this vet doesn't work out, and we will keep Aspen Arbor on our list, too. Englewood is a little too far to drive -- we had an out-of-the-blue emergency with one of our cats a few years back, and the 18-minute drive to our vet was, well, harrowing, so I'm really hoping to find someone we like within 10 minutes or so -- but I appreciate the rec. And, yes, we will look into the possibility of getting a mobile vet to come see our other old cat, who is honestly still part-feral and very much a handful!
