Down the resin-topcoat rabbit hole I go!

What’s the best (non-yellowing) resin to apply over a decoupage piece that already has Mod Podge Hard Coat as a first top layer?

Resin/decoupage/craft-heads, I have a question.

I’ve started to apply Mod Podge Hard Coat as a top layer for a decoupage project (affixed paper to a small wooden shelf) but am looking for a clear topcoat that will form a thick protective layer. I have an affinity for ice, what can I say?

I’ve heard that resin is the way to create that thick layer, but what’s the best type to lay over Mod Podge? I understand that resin is something of a rabbit hole, and would appreciate the opinion of seasoned crafters. (This is my first decoupage project ever!).

Thank you!!!
