Best online financial accounting courses?

I'm currently working in finance doing a variety of accounting things in a small but financially complex company. I have an aptitude for it and some background in accounting and financial analysis that is self taught, and was largely for new sole props or nonprofits. I'm interested in studying accounting more deeply. What are the best online courses for this?

My company will soon have an education reimbursement program rolling out, and I'd like to take advantage of that. However, I am fine to invest some of my own money, up to a point. What I'd prefer is a course or two that focuses on double entry accounting and beginning financial analysis.

My boss (the CFO) is a close friend of mine, and is very invested in mentoring me through this process. Also the more I understand, the more responsibility (and pay) I will be given. My goal is to work my way up to a Controller position, and hopefully use my connections to land a CFO position down the road.

I've looked at the Harvard Business School's online Financial Accounting and it seems like a good choice, except it's $1600. I'm sure there are other options that are less expensive but still offer a comprehensive course.

I am open to things like Skillshare or Coursera if they truly are effective, but ideally I'd like a longer, more in-depth class.

Thank you in advance!

Best answer: 1600 dollars really isn’t that much for a professional development course. If that’s a good choice, say so and explain succinctly why. Your boss probably won’t bat an eye at the price.
