Which is the best project/task management app to use?

Which is the best & simplest project/task management app to use? I'm looking for something quite basic and can't quite find the right tool. I manage clients and want them all listed in columns on the same page/or as few pages as possible that are easy to see. All they need to contain is some basic info about the client, what I'm waiting for from other people, and what the client is waiting for me to action. It should sync across devices and be quite simple to use.

Honestly, assuming you have a minimal number of tasks for each client, I think a Google docs Excel sheet would fit the bill. Just make sure you either disable "off-line mode" (so you won't be able to edit without it syncing).

You could also freeze the view at the client name / hide the client info columns if you only want to see the tasks.

I've used Trello for this, but mostly I just keep a Notepad (or BBEdit on Mac) window open with this information.

I use the free version of Wrike. It’s similar to Asana. Each client is a project. I have a status line I write in to the description and keep that updated. With my leads, I have a folder and I tag where I am in the process but I also update the title with status (waiting response, need to schedule, etc). You can view it as cards or a list and put due dates and get a daily email.

I'm a fan of Notion, which has the same views as Trello but offers the ability to view databases in multiple views that you can design. You could share a particular view format(s) of the data with certain users.

I think you should consider WorkFlowy. It's very simple to use - there's something charming about the simplicity of it, actually - and you can install it on different devices and have the sync.

Google sheets. Airtable if you're feeling fancy.

Another option could be Monday.com which has the column layout you’re looking for. I personally prefer Monday to Trello (and to Basecamp) but that’s related to my specific needs for flexibility and many different types of boards and dislike of the cards layout) and I have a work-funded enterprise version. The free version of Monday would be great for straightforward client tacking though.

Asana if you need scheduling and such, but I would probably just use Google Sheets.
