Sock it to me

Where can I find the best silly, colorful, creative socks? The ones with, like, bananas or dogs or funny sayings on them. But artfully done. And they should be nice to wear, too! Socks I like: Yellow Owl Workshop, Blue Q, Bombas Sesame Street Collection. Help me find more like these!

Best answer: My husband really likes Happy Socks - good quality and I love their curated box sets for easy gifting :)

Joy of Socks seems to have all the funny novelty socks. I particularly like the library card ones and the glow in the dark NASA ones.

Best answer: If you can't find something amazing at Sock Dreams then something's gone horribly wrong with the world...again.

I cannot for the life of me remember the name, but there is a brand of novelty socks that skews heavily to food, and my local Staples carries them, I found them in the allegedly largest gas station in either the world or North America or something about an hour outside Vegas, I've seen them in hotel gift shops, they're all over. All I can tell you is that they come in size Big Foot or Small Foot. I buy my husband novelty socks as a thing, and I've bought him probably 8 pairs of these and he wears them regularly to work where he uses a standing desk all day, and I haven't noticed any of them thinning at pressure points or anything. (The PB&J sandwiches are my favorite.)

Target had some great ones at halloween, my husband is still wearing the sparkly mermaid skeleton socks just because they're so great. Aldi had a bunch in autumn/halloween and might have Christmas socks now (these were very skinny socks, though - my fat feet and ankles were unhappy, but he liked them).

And finally, you can find places online that will print custom images on socks. The dogs gave my husband socks with their faces on them for Valentine's day this year. The quality is not spectacular but I saw him wearing a pair last week so they've made it this long.

I like Ozone socks plus they're cotton and last forever.

If they aren't 25% off when you look, they will be soon- they have frequent sales.

Best answer: Hansel from Basel has some fun ones (everyone needs lacinto kale and dragonfruit socks, right?), and Bonne Maison's socks are lovely.

I think Lyn Never might be talking about Hot Sox, which are pretty widely available!

But if not, they’re another okay answer. I love all of mine. How artfully they’re done seems to depend on the print itself.

Best answer: Baggu
Lorien Stern
Big Bud Press

They all do mostly other stuff, but have recently produced socks. I think the Baggu ones are a collaboration with Hansel From Basel, mentioned above.

Response by poster: Thank you, all! These are great! Keep 'em coming! I have already found a gift for my secret nondenominational holiday giftee at work, plus about twenty ideas for myself.

Best answer: Poketo has some nice socks right now, and Woven Pear are really nice and closest to the other brands you linked to. Someone already linked to Happy socks (which you can find discounted at places like Nordstrom Rack, by the way), but I want to point out their line called Hysteria (if you're a lady or like thins small socks) which took me a few years to notice. They have lighter weights and I like them for work/dress socks as all the other brands mentioned are taller and heavier than I need.

I recently bought a pair of the Cosmos socks from Karma at a little gift store, and I'm very happy with them.

I also picked up a pair with succulents on them that I can't find on-line but I can check for a brand name later.
