Why does Blogger hate my attempt to export to WordPress?
Hi. I've been looking everywhere for help on exporting from Blogger to WordPress. There are guides that tell me to change the template and publish my old posts in a form that can be understood by a conversion script.
One problem...as soon as I slip the new template into Blogger, it refuses to publish. Just spins around that "publishing in progress" wheel forever. I've tried everything and it seems like the template is what it's rejecting...it publishes just fine once I change it to anything else. What can I do?

Best answer: If you're using WordPress 2.0 you don't need to export at all -- just tell WordPress your Blogger login and it does everything for you.
I just did this last week and it imported 1800 posts almost flawlessly -- just be aware that the importer stalls out occasionally. Just start it up again and eventually it'll finish.

Best answer: Note that if you have a very large blogger blog, that tutorial will result in a VERY BIG FILE that comes up as a result of the republish. So, it could take a very long time, or just timeout altogether.
I would second the recommendation to use WP 2.0 and just do it that way.

Seems Blogger also does not want to let you republish to Drupal. Anyone have a workaround for that problem? Curse you, Blogger!

Don't underestimate the possibility of Blogger having problems. It was partially down this morning, so perhaps trying again is in order.
