Simple (free!) video splicing software?

How can I easily splice together small video clips? I have Premiere, but it's rather cumbersome and I'm not so good yet at getting the compression right when I export. Are there any really simple programs like VirtualDub that can paste clips together?

Windows Movie Maker is the simplest option, if you have XP.

An option not listed in the previous post is QuickTime Pro. It's only about $30 and, while it doesn't offer any real editing tools per se, it does have simple cut and paste options that let you trim movie files or stitch several together.
