How Can I Make This Shirt Softer?

I have a favorite Dickies brand shirt (just like the one in the link) that is embroidered with my name and a logo. I love this shirt, but its too stiff to wear comfortably. Is there a quick way to soften this shirt without damaging the embroidered parts? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Best answer: Supposedly you can brine them.

Maybe just wash it a bunch of times? When I get new bandanas they always start out super stiff and then soften up after a bunch of washings. Maybe just wash it with every load of laundry you do for a while, whether it's dirty or not. It'll stop being stiff after a while.

I'm sceptical about most of the claims made for vinegar (other than in salad), but I have used it to rinse stiff fabrics and it actually did help. Put it in the final rinse, or do an extra rinse after the clothes have finished the wash cycle.

Also, even though I hate fabric softener for regular use, it can be very good when a fabric is uncomfortably stiff.

Hang it to line dry, then beat it with a carpet beater or a stick or whatever whacking tools you have available.

Tumble on no-heat setting for hours at once, or a few minutes after every normal laundry cycle.

Dickies use a very dense cotton/poly weave that prioritizes longevity and abrasion resistance over comfort when new, so the key is to simulate accelerated wear.

Is it uncomfortable because it’s scratching you? Could you wear a soft undershirt under it? I have a few items that are great-looking but a little scratchy, and a modal undergarment makes it much easier to deal with.
