YouTube Blocking

Can I block keywords from youtube recommendations? OR from being shown at all?

I'd like to be able to show the child YouTube videos without having little thumbnails of Peppa Pig pop up.
She loves Peppa Pig. I hate it so much.

If she sees a little Peppa Pig in the recommended thumbnail she'll demand to watch it and then have a tantrum when (ok... if) we say no.
I know we have to get better at making it clear what is and isn't allowed, but this would make it much easier.

What device is she watching on?

I block all ads and pop up recs on my rooted android phone using an Xposed module. There is probably an easier way to do it. No idea if possible on an iPhone or iPad.

Response by poster: This is on a PC. Sorry should have said.
Also to clarify, I'm talking about how when YouTube videos end there's a grid of recommended videos afterwards (and a sidebar also). I don't mind these per se, I'd just want them not to have that pig featured.

The Cleanr YouTube browser extension takes away the sidebar and the comments. So that's a start.

If you turn on Auto-Play, it just shows a countdown before the next video starts instead of the "related videos" grid, but that has its own potential issues of launching a new video without any intervention (and presumably could launch a Peppa Pig video).

Also if you're watching a playlist it goes to the next video without showing the thumbnails.

Playlist with a predetermined time length so that you can pop in with 1 minute to go and stop it. Also, we would set up an actual kitchen timer that our kids learned would be the end of computer time so that even if a favorite video popped up, sorry, next time maybe.

Quite frankly, my solution to this is self-destructing cookies. I don't keep google's cookies longer than the life of the tab, so the moment I close the YouTube window it forgets who the hell I ever was.

Maybe you could open youtube in an incognito window when you need this.
