Is there a way to have the background image my computer displays reflect which SSID it is wirelessly connected to? I would like to determine this information by a glance at the screen.

Use BGInfo - you can customize what the overlay is on your wallpaper.

Best answer: Here's the specific VBS to feed SSID into BGInfo.

Response by poster: BGInfo certainly does what I asked, only it does so statically. If the connection changes, I'd have to run it again.

Response by poster: I suppose I could somehow have it run once a minute.

Best answer: You can use windows' scheduled tasks to run a script when you connect to a network.

Best answer: Rainmeter can do this. It's pretty elaborate though.
