How do I keep my IP address anonymous when sending email through Outlook or Thunderbird? posted by saffron to computers & internet (5 comments total)
Use a gmail account, using gmail's SMTP. It strips identifying IP addresses. posted by skallas at 9:14 AM on January 10, 2006
As skallas alludes to, your IP address is stamped on outgoing emails by your SMTP server, not your client. To circumvent this, you must either use a proxy server (hard to find for mail) or switch to an SMTP server that doesn't stamp IPs. posted by ori at 9:56 AM on January 10, 2006
