Recommendation for a Cake Bakery near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco
September 14, 2015 3:12 PM

Mom is turning 80 this weekend and we're celebrating at her favorite restaurant on the Wharf. We'd like to have a cake delivered to the restaurant, but the two bakeries the restaurant recommended either do not deliver (according to their website) or want to balance their budget with the delivery charge. I'd appreciate a recommendation for a place that can do a cake that would serve 10 or so. Many thanks.

Call Stella or Victoria in North Beach, which is pretty close to FW. At any rate, you could probably use TCB Courier if nobody will deliver, or maybe GrubHub/Seamless has a cake-enabled business available on their board of fare. I don't know if you'll be able to avoid a delivery charge for a cake in this situation.

I've used this place for a custom cake order and their delivery was free and on time.

However, it is standard practice for most bakeries to charge a delivery fee in SF, or else consumers rely on a service like Postmates to handle the delivery on their behalf. Given that, I'd likely take that into consideration and just go with a lovely delicious cake that Mom would enjoy.

I'd suggest Le Marais for a lovely French cake or tart.

I am prepared to pay a delivery fee, no problem. But Stella wanted $47 to deliver a $35 cake less than a mile from the bakery.
