Random "Pop-Up Video" memory about a sticky bun
September 5, 2015 12:26 PM

I was watching an old rerun of "Pop-Up Video" and was reminded of a strange non sequitur in a late '90s VH1 Pop-Up Video I remember seeing as a kid. I can't remember anything about the song, but there was a completely random mention of a sticky bun that had nothing to do with the video. What was it?

I'm going to guess it had to do with a dispute between band members and one "paying" the other with a sticky bun in jest, or perhaps some scandal where a sticky bun was somehow evidence. It could have also been a pun/innuendo that I was too young to understand at the time (yes, I probably wasn't "supposed" to be watching the show...it was a babysitter that liked to watch it).

I had a roommate in college in the late 90s. She was really in to a song that went something like, "in the morning when I wake up, she gives me a sticky bun, she's got skills."

Maybe the same artist?
Hope that helps.

Is this it: Steal My Sunshine by Len? There is apparently some reference to sticky paws in it and it is a song from the late 1990's. Also it was on Pop-up Video.
