Is it possible to set up Hotmail to only display unread messages?

I tend to keep some messages unread for some extended period of time (mostly "hey check this out" stuff), and when I clean out my inbox I have to dig very deep in the past to weed them out.

I think if you click on the little envelope icon at the top of the columns, it should sort based on the read status. I don't have enough messages in my inbox to confirm that, but it should work.

How about in GMail? Possible there?

smackfu: The only way I know how to do it is to go to the Search box, and type "is:unread" (without the quotes).

Thanks, that put me in the right direction. I ended up with "in:inbox in:unread", otherwise I got a lot of hits in the Archived mail. (Interestingly, you can't even enter that in the "normal" search UI, because unread and inbox are exclusive options.)

Alright, that seems to settle both flavours of webmail. It's a shame that I can't add tags, or I would add "gmail".
