Getting from Munich Airport to Hiohenems (Austria) in a train strike
May 4, 2015 10:33 PM
Simple as that. I fly into Munich Airport at 0700 on Friday morning. I have a rail booking to Hohenems (extreme west of Austria). I am going to a concert in Hohenems at 2000 hrs on Friday night. Back to Munich Airport the following morning to catch a flight at 1100. If Deutsche Bahn is on strike, how do I make this work?
Even if it means I don't sleep on Friday night I'll take it.

Great autocorrest typo (I assume). Well, hitchhiking may get you abuse; if you'd prefer a bus, however, try here.

Rent a car? It's only ~3 hours each way.

Thanks Too-Ticky, that's exactly what I wanted. And yes, it was an autocorrect typo.

The bus is probably the best option.
But another suggestion just in case: Mitfahrgelegenheit

You'll want to use the "Live-Auskunft" on the Deutsche Bahn Homepage which will let you know the current status + replacement schedule, about 50% of trains keep running during the strike..

Thanks all. Looking at the DB website I may be OK after all, since at least some trains will still be running, hopefully including the ones I'm interested in. But a Plan B is handy anyway.
