What was this late night cartoon?

So when I was a kid, I used to watch a lot of Cartoon Network (in the late '90s). I vividly remember watching one about a man that got into a cloning machine, made clones of himself, and then got the clones and/or himself killed in the compacting/smashing machine next to it. Now I'm trying to figure out where to watch it again.

This was black and white, drawn in simple outlines on an all-white background. (Think a Hertzfeldt cartoon.) This was during the era when Cartoon Network had The Tex Avery Show and Toonami and stuff. I remember seeing this at night. What was this?

Best answer: I'm pretty sure that was from the O Canada show, which was awesome and all too short-lived.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but the exact same concept: Itchy & Scratchy, Tears of a Clone, from the Simpsons. http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/The_Tears_of_a_Clone

Sounds like a Dexter's lab short? (although they're usually in color) It's a science themed show so it sounds like it could be that.

I immediately thought of the cartoon justkevin posted when I read your question, particularly the segment that starts around 4:35. I have similar vivid memories of watching this.

I kept thinking as I watched the video that justkevin linked that the animation and music reminded me of The Log Driver's Waltz--the quintessential NFB animated short. They're by the same animator, featuring the McGarrigle sisters.

I know it's not black and white but was it this episode of Sealab 2021?

Response by poster: Wow, that was quick, even with my misleading description! justkevin's right on the mark -- now to relive that childhood existential dread all over again...
