Help!! with contacting Zoom and Steinberg/Cubase

This question is a follow-up to this one I asked recently. Having purchased the H4n through Amazon, which came with a cd for the required Cubase program by Steinberg, I'm now trying to register as directed by product info (apparently there's a 30-day window of opportunity). What an Alice-in-Wonderland nightmare I'm in.

Part of the process is to sign and send Steinberg's ReadMe file, but the address does not pop up in the send field, and neither the Steinberg or Zoom websites give an email (phone recording refers me to email). I can sign up for MySteinberg, but can't do anything with it without a download access code - not included in what Zoom sent me, not mentioned in the instructions, and, I am pretty confident, did not appear in the initial stages of the installation process. I would love to think I have somehow automatically registered during installation, but of course that would be too good to be true, and I don't want to put my head in the sand and have my registration period expire. Can someone (spitbull?) help me exit this maze?

Best answer: I'm sorry, I have never used Cubase and cannot help with that.

This looks like the relevant documentation though:

And this is a relevant FAQ:

It is not at all required for using the H4N. In fact, it's overkill for editing stereo audio oral history recordings.

Everyone I know in your trade (oral history) uses the open source app Audacity, which is free, as a primary stereo editor. If you've got a Mac, GarageBand (while also overkill) can do nicely.
