Inspired by The Vagina Monologues?

Which other productions have taken on the model of The Vagina Monologues - first-person stories about gender, sexuality, and womanhood? (I'm interested in those that share the model but have custom material, not necessarily the script of VMon as performed by specific demographics.)

I'm involved with Yoni Ki Baat, which is from the perspective of South Asian women, and I know of a version about Muslim women but have forgotten the name. I vaguely remember a male version too but am not sure if that really existed or if it was satire. Any others?

Best answer: I'm not sure if this is what you want, or specifically not what you want (because it's not about women), but there's The Naked I, which has just had its third iteration in Minneapolis. (The second and third versions consisted of monologues written by people here, if I understand correctly.)

From the same people as The Vagina Monologues, there are also: "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer" and "Any One Of Us: Words From Prison", and a few others. You can get more info and evaluation copies of those scripts from V-Day. MMRP is a little more uniformly serious and hard-hitting than The Vagina Monologues' mix of serious & funny.

Best answer: There are actually two about Muslim women: The Veiled Monologues (by Adelheid Roosen) and The Hijabi Monologues (by Sahar Ullah, Zeenat Rahman and Dan Morrison).

This is a bit afield, but Talking With is a series of monologues delivered by female performers of various "types."

I highly recommend it if you ever see it presented.
